Objective
Create, restart, or remove numbered headings
Environment
PolicyStat Editor
Procedure
Many policies contain numbered lists to organize the display of content. However, some of these lists can become rather long making proper navigation challenging for users.
To ease the navigation of lists and to provide a cleaner, easier to use layout, PolicyStat offers Numbered Headings.
Creating Numbered Headings
- Change the text to a heading by selecting the formatting drop-down list.
- Select the desired style (Heading, Subheading, etc.) from the dropdown.
- Use the Numbering drop-down list to select the desired numbering formatting.
- Choose a list style from the four options (eg, 1.1.1.1, A.1.a.1)
- The formatting will be applied to the header.
- Subsequent headings will continue the numbering list pattern.
- Add additional subheadings, section headings, or section subheadings as needed. The numbering style will continue based on the first level selection.
- Standard numbered or bulleted lists can also be added beneath Numbered Headings. These list items are formatted separately from the Numbered Headings, so list styles (e.g. - A., B., C.) can be adjusted without impacting Numbered Headings.
Applying Numbering to Existing Headings
To apply numbering to multiple headers at the same time:
- Click and drag to select the content.
- Use the numbering drop-down list to select the desired numbering style.
- The numbering will apply to the headings only.
Clearing Numbered Headings
To clear numbering from your headings:
- Place the cursor within the text box for existing numbered header.
- Click the Clear Numbering option from the Numbering drop-down list.
Restart Numbering
To restart numbering when starting a new list:
- Place the cursor within the text box for existing numbered header.
- Click the Restart Numbering option from the Numbering drop-down list.
