Word attachments missing extension

Environment

PolicyStat, Chrome, Edge, Firefox

Cause

The cause is currently unknown as the issue is being investigated by our development team.

Procedure/Resolution

If a Word attachment is missing an extension it will download but you will not be able to open it in Word due to the missing file extensions. There are a few different workarounds depending on what browser you are using. Alternatively, you can also add the extension after downloading the file.

CHROME

1. Go to the Policy
2. Switch to the Legacy UI
3. Download the attachment

EDGE
It is viewable in the browser in the New UI but not downloadable.
To download the file follow these steps:

1. Go to the Policy
2. Switch to the Legacy UI
3. Click the attachment
4. If viewing in the browser you will get an error and you will have to click the "Download file at the top"

FIREFOX
Currently, there is no workaround needed as you are able to download the attachments without issue in both the New and Legacy UIs.

ADD EXTENSION

1. To add the Word extension you will need to download the attachments, go to the location where your downloaded files are stored on your computer.
2. Right-click on the file
3. Click Rename
4. Add .docx at the end of the file name
5. 
6. Click enter to save the new file extension
7. The file will now open in Word
