Issue

Use PolicyGen to create or replace policy content

Environment

RLDatix Policy Management site with AI Tools enabled

Resolution

1. If creating a new document and have selected a new document template, highlight/select the template headings in the editor (Ctrl+a) and then proceed to step 2.
2. Click the PolicyGen button in the Editor toolbar.
   
3. Review the disclaim then click Accept.
   
4.  You will now see three options Creation, Editing, and Translation
   
5. To have PolicyGen Create a policy/section, click creation. Enter your prompt in the PolicyGen field. Recommendations for information to include:
   • Subject
   • Document type
   • Clinical setting
   • Locality
   • Facility type
   • Organization name

   • Related laws, regulations, and standards

     Examples: 
     
     - Required vaccinations policy for General Health hospitals with WA, AK, and OR state laws

     - No selfies in the operating room policy for a General Ambulatory Surgery Center with CMS and TJC 

     - Blood utilization guidelines for California hospitals including CDC

6. Once PolicyGen processes your prompt, the resulting policy will display. 
7. Review the generated policy and select the button that corresponds with the action you'd like to take:
   
   • Insert: all of the generated content will be inserted where your cursor is current placed in the Editor and will adopt the style of the selected text box. For example, if your cursor is placed in a list, the first line of your generated policy will appear as a list item.
   • Insert below: all of the generated content will be inserted below the currently selected text box within the Editor. A new text box will be created and styled based on your generated content.
   • Try again: PolicyGen will generate a new policy based on your original prompt. 
   • Stop: tells PolicyGen to stop generating a policy if the process is running for an extended period of time
8. If you are unhappy with your results, you can use the text field to generate a document based on a different prompt. 
9. Review the generated policy and make adjustments where necessary.

Edit Option:

You will notice that the Edit option is grayed out. In order to use Editing, you must first highlight the text in your policy that you are wanting to Edit. Up to 3,000 characters can be selected at once.
