Entities that can be sent for Workflow can also have their own unique Approval status displayed on the entity form if required. This will mean that the Approval status will be shown in addition and separate to the Workflow status on the top right of the screen.
As an Approval is an Action that is part of a Workflow then they will sometimes have differing status values.
The Approval status display on the form is controlled by the Configuration setting: 'Enable approval status by entity type'
When ticked the status will appear on the concerned entity and can be pulled out into views.
Changing a records Approval Status
There maybe instances where an entity record needs to be Approved but may not necessarily need to go through a formal Workflow and Approval process.
If it is enough for an Administrator to check the record details and confirm the record is 'Approved' themselves then they have the ability to do so.
In this instance there is setting in the Workflow Configuration area called 'Allow Self approval if User is an Administrator'
If this option is set to 'Yes' in the [...] more actions options of a record, an Administrator will have an additional option [Change Approval status]
Click this option and the Admin will have the ability to select a new status and add a reason for the update in a Note field.
Once [Saved] the record status will be updated.
