What Is Credentialing?
The Credentialing feature in Intelligent Contract enables organisations to submit, track, and manage provider Credentialing Requests directly from Contracts.
It provides a structured, auditable workflow that connects credentialing activity to the relevant Contract, Users, and documentation within the system.
Credentialing integrates with an external Credentialing service to retrieve application statuses and keeps Users informed throughout the review lifecycle.
Key Capabilities
Credentialing in Intelligent Contract allows users to:
- Submit Credentialing Requests from a Contract
- Capture provider information using a structured, multi‑step form
- Upload supporting documentation and notes
- Track application status updates automatically
- View all Credentialing activity in a central summary screen
- Receive notifications when requests are submitted or updated
- Manage access and visibility using Security Groups
Credentialing Workflow at a Glance
The typical Credentialing workflow follows these stages:
- Submission
A User submits a Credentialing Request from a Contract using a guided form. - Review
The request is reviewed externally by the credentialing service. - Status Updates
Application status updates are retrieved automatically and displayed in Intelligent Contract. - Notification
Relevant Users are notified when key events occur, such as submission or status change. - Ongoing Access
Credentialing records remain linked to the Contract for reference and Audit purposes.
Credentialing Records
Each Credentialing record:
- Is linked to a single Contract
- Inherits security settings from the Contract (based on configuration)
- Cannot be Deleted or Archived independently from a Contract record
- Is tracked throughout its lifecycle for audit
Credentialing records are managed individually to preserve data integrity and compliance.
Application Status Tracking
Each Credentialing request includes an Application Status field that:
- Defaults to Pending on submission
- Updates automatically based on external credentialing updates until an end status is reached
Note: Status values from the credentialing service can vary and can change over time, these values are not maintained within intelligentcontract, only displayed.
Please contact your credentialing implementation team if you wish to have a list of the current status that can be applied.
Notifications and Audit
The submitter of a Credentialing record and any internal person linked to the related Contract record will receive an email notification:
- When a new Credentialing request is submitted
- When the Application Status changes
All status changes and notification events are audit‑logged.
Security and Access
Access to Credentialing is controlled through:
- Plugin‑level Security Groups - Users only in the Security Groups assigned will see the feature and have the ability to create Credentialing Request records.
